I got my teeth cleaned today by my hygienist Tina. She did a fantastic job!!! Painless and quick and my mouth feels clean and fresh, and she polished off all my coffee stains.

filling of the day
These photos are of a 30 year old lady with a large cavity in her last upper molar. I was able to save the tooth and restore it with a bonded composite restoration without a root canal in 30 minutes. The procedure was totally painless and she was very pleased and had no discomfort after. The tooth will require a porcelain crown in the future.

chipped teeth of the day
This first patient was at a concert, and when the band started playing her roommate jumped up and raised her hands and knocked into the beer bottle she was drinking from. The bottle banged into her front tooth fracturing off the edge. I repaired the tooth in 15 minutes with a composite bonded restoration.
This next patient chipped the middle corner of his upper left front tooth playing basketball. I repaired it easily with a bonded composite restoration.
This patient chipped her 2 upper front teeth biting on a pump needle trying to pull it out of a soccer ball.

Implant of the day
Bone grafts of the week
Following the removal of a tooth, there is a large hole left in the extraction site. The area resorbs and collapses. In order to preserve the extraction socket, dentists place a bone graft. This is very important especially when an implant will be placed. In these photos I demonstrate the placement of a bone graft and collagen membrane following a surgical extraction.

Cracked tooth of the day
This patient had a root canal but never returned to have the crown placed. She bit down on a nut and fractured her molar. The tooth was cracked down the roots and non-restorable. I extracted the tooth. She was not planning on having an implant and she elected not to have a bone graft.
Cavity of the day
This patient liked to eat candy, and as a result developed many cavities. I removed the decay and restored the teeth with composite restorations.
